What do you do when you are at your friends’ and family’s house? Do a makeover? Nail painting? or doing crafts projects? These are brilliant activities, but sometimes, if repeated too often, you could also get bored and run out of things to do too. Well, there are some activities that you can do to get some fun and excitement. Doing famous online challenges is one of the most interesting options. It is a great idea for spending time with the people you love and have some fun challenges to do together.

In the internet world, there are tons of challenges from every corner of the world. Many challenges are easy to do and require only a little equipment, while some challenges can be quite dangerous to do. Many people got hurt during some challenges, so you should choose the challenge by considering safety too.

Well, we have a fun and safe challenge to suggest to you guys. In this blog, we are trying the “Making pancake blind, mute and deaf” challenge!

The main point of the challenge is to try to cook something by having 1 blind person (having something to cover their eyes), 1 mute person (can’t speak or make any noises) and 1 deaf person ( putting earphones on and raising the music volume up until they can’t hear anyone). Fortunately our team has exactly 3 people so we have all the members that are required.

The first person is Bombay, The blind one. We did not have any blindfold, so we used part of Kaojao’s curtain to close her eyes.

The second person is Jenny, She picked the deaf one (especially because she wanted to listen to music)

The last one is Kaojao. She didn’t want to be blindfolded because she had makeup on, so she ended up getting the mute one.

The menu we did was pancakes and ovaltine smoothies! Kaojao already had an egg, some ice, and the nutella at her condo. We got the other ingredients from the mall near our school. The pancake mix costs only 71 baht and we just have to mix it with milk and an egg, it was a very cheap and convenient choice. The ovaltine, milk and bananas are not over 100 baht budget, so this is an interesting activity choice for someone who is looking for a low-cost challenge.

Now that everything is ready, let’s talk about the cooking process!

The process of cooking was quite easy but the challenge comes to communication. No one could understand each other. The way the deaf (Jenny) communicated with the mute (Kaojao) was through body language. To be honest, it was quite hard to understand neither of them. The blind (Bombay) can communicate through her voice but the only one who could hear her is the deaf one, and she could not even respond. It was actually kind of chaotic.

Mostly Kaojao and Jenny were the ones who did the cooking process that must use sight or it could get messy. Bombay got a little lonely because she was the one who had got no clue about what was going on.

We were afraid Bombay would get nothing to do so we helped her do things like pouring or stirring too. She also fried the pancakes with help from Kaojao. Surprisingly even though she could not see, nothing spilled, not even a drop!

We did not want Bombay to use any sharp equipment like knives because it was too dangerous, so Kaojao was the one who chopped the banana and did the decoration. Now, all the processes are done! It smelled really good. The butter scent was all around the room.

Now, everyone's senses have returned to normal and it’s time to taste the pancakes and smoothies. It turned out better than expected. The pancakes tasted nice and not too sweet with the nice butter smell. The smoothie was also great. It’s not too sweet and it went well with the pancakes.

Let’s hear opinions from each member of our group!

1. Blind (Bombay) = I wanted to do many things and get involved with the process but it was hard to do so when you could not see a thing. I was excited to see how it all turned out. The blindfold got a little uncomfortable after a while and I had to resist taking it off.
2. Deaf (Jenny) = I really enjoyed it. The songs on my headphones were so loud but it felt like I got to both cook and listen to music. It was fun but I could not hear anything so I only got to speak and read the other’s body language.
3. Mute (Kaojao) = I’m sure I’m the most frustrated one among the group. It was exhausting to see and hear everything but not being able to speak it out loud. No one could understand me and I wanted to speak so badly!

This is a video of us doing this challenge.

In summary, it was really fun and entertaining. We agreed that this challenge is a great activity and you could try it with your friends and family. It was very cheap and easy to do. If you want, you could switch the senses with each other and experience what it’s like from the other perspectives. Have fun spending quality time with your loved ones!
