What do you like to do at the end of the day when you just finished school? A lot of people love to hang out with their friends and find something to eat. Believe me, one of the best ways to cheer you up after a long day is enjoying good desserts! Now, SPSM school is surrounded by many malls such as Terminal 21, Central Rama 9 and Esplanade Ratchada. These malls are very easy to get to from our school because it’s just only 1-2 MRT stations. Around 4-6 pm. you will see tons of SPSM students chilling and relaxing in these malls. There are countless interesting restaurants and cafes, it might be hard to choose what to eat. So, we get the idea that why don’t we rank desserts we can easily find near school! In this blog, we’re going to try 5 dessert shops that can be found in malls near our school and rank them. The malls we chose are Terminal 21 (transport by MRT or motorbike taxi) and Central Rama 9 (transport by MRT). Are you ready to explore these dessert shops with us? Let’s start!

Top 1

We will begin the 1st shop with our winner, « Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart » .

This shop was located at The Terminal 21, right next to Swensen’s. As you all can guess, they sell cheese tarts. There were many interesting flavors with many sizes of tarts. We all bought 3 different flavors to taste. Kaojao picked a lemon cheese tart. Bombay went for the original cheese tart and Jenny chose a nutella cheese tart. We all agreed that it was divine! The cream cheese was soft but  not too watery and it smelled so nice. It was perfectly combined with each topping and the flavors went well together. The sweetness is at the right amount, not too sweet and not too bland. Every member in our team gave this store 10/10 and would definitely go back to that store to buy it again. We’d love to taste all the flavors they got!

Price : 35 baht / a small tart piece

The location : Terminal 21 (4th floor)

Let’s move on to the 2nd place, it is called «  Secret Recipe ».

They mainly sell cakes and cupcakes decorated with colorful toppings. It all looked really nice. We had a hard time picking which one to review but our final choice was American Brownie and we thought we made the right choice! It was delicious and flavorful. The moose layer was the best part due to its smoothness. We’d like to shout out to all those chocolate lovers out there, you should try this. The chocolate flavor really stands out. It’s a good bakery to share it with your friends but if you eat it alone all at once, it could be too sweet. It’s also a little chewy and thick, so it might stick in your mouth, but overall, we liked it. The shop is next to the Hokkaido Baked Cheese Tart, so we’d recommend getting it both!

Price : 105 / box

The location : Terminal 21 (4th floor)

For the third place, it’s a cream puffs shop called « Beard papa’s »

This cream puffs shop was located in Central Rama 9. At the store, you’d see many sizes of the puffs. Each one would have different prices depending on its gimmick. They have 3 flavors for the cream; vanilla, chocolate and lychee. Well, as chocolate lovers, we really had to try the chocolate flavor. We also bought a vanilla puff to compare with the chocolate puff too. It turns out, we've had disagreements among the members! Kaojao and Bombay prefer the vanilla puff but Jenny chose the chocolate one. Let’s conclude our opinion. The puff is perfectly soft and fluffy. The vanilla flavor was tender with the perfect sweetness. While Bombay said that the chocolate one was too bitter, Jenny loved that it was full of flavor. We shared the puff and it got messy, so we’d recommend eating it separately and not sharing it with others (it’s so good you wouldn't want to share it anyway, Kaojao even went back and bought another one!).

Price : 55 baht / a pie cream puff

The location : Central Rama 9 (6th floor)

We’ve introduced 3 bakery stores already, are you looking for something a little different? Let’s try some thai desserts from the shop called « Tee Khanom Chan «

At this shop, there are varieties of famous Thai desserts such as Steamed layer cake (Khanom Chan), Pandanus Pudding (Khanom Peak Poon) and Steamed Coconut Milk (Khanom Tuai). The shop owner recommended the steamed layer cake and the steamed coconut milk so we bought 1 box of each. Kaojao loves Thai desserts so she enjoyed it both. For Jenny and Bombay, we usually don’t eat Thai desserts but we both prefer the steamed coconut milk. It has a little saltiness from the coconut milk as the top layer that would go along well with the bottom layer. For the steamed layer cake, it’s sticky and tastes good. When we eat, we can get the sense of the pandanus leaf that brings out its flavor. If anyone loves good thai dessert with small costs, this shop is for you!

Price : 40 / 2 boxes

The location : Central Rama 9 (1st floor)

We’ve reached the last stop! We think you might know this one since its popularity. Our last shop for this blog is « Auntie Anne’s ».

As you might know, this is a famous bread franchise that has spread all over the world. It’s a good place for having a meal because you can find both savory and dessert here. We picked the Raisin macadamia cream cheese to review. The cream cheese and raisin was fine but the flavor was too pale and felt dry. The bread was also a little stale. It might be better if you eat it right away after you bought it or microwave it before you eat.

Price : 69 baht / box

The location : Terminal 21 (3rd floor)
